Color Spot Drawing

March 2025 Class Recordings (5 Weeks)

This self-paced course offers full access to the recorded sessions of the March 2025 run of Color Spot Drawing, a class rooted in the “color spot” lineage of Charles Hawthorne and the Venetian School. Designed to help artists of all levels loosen up and reconnect with the expressive potential of drawing, this course emphasizes building form through abstract color and value shapes rather than line.

Using materials such as graphite, ballpoint pen, colored pencil, oil pastel, and collage, students will learn to create painterly, expressive drawings that hover between realism and abstraction. Assignments explore a variety of subject matter, including figure models, still life, and landscape imagery, and are supported by in-depth demonstrations and lecture content.

Originally taught live on Zoom, the course includes:

  • Permanent access to all March 2025 class recordings

  • A printable 3-pack of custom worksheets to support your ongoing practice

  • Slide lectures that accompany each week's lesson

  • Optional access to our closed Discord community for continued dialogue and peer support

These recordings are ideal for artists seeking to refresh their practice, develop a more intuitive approach to drawing, or learn perceptual strategies grounded in color relationships and abstraction.

After purchase, you’ll receive a downloadable PDF containing all links to recordings, lectures, materials list, and Discord access instructions.

**Please note: This purchase includes the recorded content only (Sit-in Seat), and does not include individualized feedback. The live class originally ran in March 2025. All sales are final.
